Timber Frame Boat Barn Workshop

A Beginner-Friendly, 9-Day Joinery Course

Join a professional timber framing crew as you lay out, cut, assemble, and raise a 20′ × 36′ white pine boat barn in Rockland, Maine. By the end of the course, you’ll understand the fundamentals of timber frame design, engineering, material selection, layout, and traditional joinery—and you’ll have gained practical experience with the tools and techniques used by experienced timber framers.

Physical Considerations

We want everyone to come help and learn, but hands-on workshops are hard work. We recommend only signing up if you’re comfortable and willing to stand for hours at a time, able to lift up to 50 pounds, and are generally healthy and mobile.

Refund Policy

Refunds may be considered on a case by case basis. We understand that life can be unpredictable, but generally no refunds are given unless we have a waiting list and can fill your spot.

ABOUT YOUR HOSTS

Inner Works Center

Constance Evans and Michael Shunney, a husband/wife team, each bring over thirty years of training, clinical experience / teaching to Inner Works Center classes, programs and clinic.

Connie is an Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist who incorporates her previous training as a Physical Therapist for an integrated approach to issues including chronic pain, women’s health, anxiety and cancer care. Her practice focuses on finding and supporting a balanced lifestyle as an adjunct to treatment that optimizes health and resiliency by blending the wisdom of Chinese Medicine with contributions from Western Science.

Mike has studied Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Qigong (Chi Kung) since 1987 and has been teaching the arts since 1994. He is an International Yang Family Academy Instructor who guides his students in regaining their natural wisdom in body, mind and spirit through the development of personal Tai Chi and Qigong practices. Mike teaches students of all levels, from beginners to advanced, and is helping to train the next generation of teachers.
